Sunday 18th of January the South African QL community will host the CArNaG3 Cup, online duel tournament. Players will compete for a R7000 prize pool.

Group stages will kick of in the morning at 10:00 SAST (GMT+2:00) followed by double elimination bracket ending with the grand finals at 20:00 SAST (GMT+2:00).

I am a big super metroid fan, love the game, so naturally I sometimes stumble on videos or streamers of this game.
At one point I stumbled upon "oatsngoats" ... good speedrunner ... first 3 months I watched him here and there, because it was all kinda new someone had success streaming super metroid, there were super metroid speedruns on youtube of course, just like quake speedrunning, but noone is really successful as a streamer doing this ... so at first it was a kind of nice experience to follow him ...
but since those 3 months have past, I kinda lost interest, but I still sometime stumble upon his streams ...
this guy basically 95 % of the time only streams the super metroid base game, maybe with some randomization added for the rooms, but the rooms and enemies are all 100 % the same ... and this guy, to keep his viewers, can only stream this base game all the time ... now I still stumble upon his streams years after discovering him, I am maybe on his stream for 5 minutes, just feel sorry ... I mean, all the time the fucking same single player game ... is this a fucking asylum livestream?

I rated frags worse than interview.. seriously, there's going to be so many great, great frags. How the fk do you choose?

A great interview, on the other hand... they're rarely really fun to read, and I like reading them.

Who knows?

Think as if it were Quakecon 2013, best match would go for chance vs evil and best frag for Dahang's LG suspension on rapha in ZTN. and there's no many matches/frags left to argue those.

What i mean is that is possible to get to an agreement.

I think there should be a "Best sportsmanship award" voted by the participating players (with the obvious rule that players can't vote for themselves).

Best Interview is the most WTF award. (1) It has no relation to the game what so ever. (2) Not really performance based (at least game-wise). (3) Will every single player get interviewed? If not, no equal chances. (4) Non-English speakers that need a translator, such as Evil, are at immediate disadvantage.

Best Frag is also a gay award. It's mostly luck based. Anyone can produce it, nobody is actually trying to get it, it just happens. I would much more prefer Best Play, which is actually more performance based. You need intelligence + execution to get it, not just a lucky string of air rockets to hit for example.

Best Upset and Best Comeback are good awards. You have to work hard for those. Best Match, again depends on many factors. Depends how do you define best, too. For example this was a great match, but both players played shitty, they made thousands of mistakes. So Best Match I'd give not necessarily the most entertaining, but to the tightest match, which means both opponents played off the charts, making almost no mistakes, and it was close as hell.

Rest dont really reward anything too meaningful. Thats also the reason, why I didnt see the point of putting money to these awards.
