National ESL Go4Firefall for the U.S. (3 comments)

Firefall is a new Free-to-Play-Shooter by Red 5 Studios. It's a thrilling mix of elements you know from shooters: MMOs, an open world to explore with quests; and PvP, which makes Firefall an eSports title. You can download Firefall for free!

National ESL is going to host regular tournaments for all Firefall players. Starting on August 4, the Go4Firefall tournament series include weekly cups with $1,000 in prize money and the chance to qualify for the monthly final, which gives you another $5,000 to win!

However, this Sunday on July 28, NESL will be starting an Open Cup for the U.S. This cup will feature prizes for the top 3 teams. Below the prize information will be direct links to the signups, as well as information for the EU Firefall events from ESL.

I'm a beginner player in Quake Live but I'm a real Doom fan.

I hope you will enjoy my video, it took me 18 hours selecting demos, recording videos and editing.

Crowdfunding is the way to find money, nothing else. That's the way "smart" Pebble watches saw the world ($10,266,845 from 68,928 men). That's how new gaming console OUYA came out ($8,596,475 from 63,416 men). People gather money for movies, games, everything.

We already started this thing in Russia, and it works quite well. But probably there are people in other countries, that would like to see such players as evil, ash or pavel on major US and European LAN's? We would really appreciate your help.

Hello everyone. EsportsFrance is back with another interview. This time, we wanted and had the opportunity to talk with

Frazer "FraZe" Hockley, the Oceanic superstar who did very well this winter in the European scene while staying in the United Kingdom.

In this interview, EsportsFrance asked FraZe about his trip to Europe last winter, the European scene, the Australian scene, his play style, his gear, his girlfriend, his plans with QuakeLive for the future, CTF, TDM... and some more stuff.

Here is an extract of the interview:

EsportsFrance: It seems that you play CTF regularly, is it something that you are going to play as seriously as duel, or is it just occasionally? What about TDM?

FraZe: Well we have seasonal CTF and TDM comps here so i do play both during the year. I prefer TDM personaly but enjoy CTF too. Whilst i was in Europe i was playing TDM quite a bit more than i do here though however, as i had quite a few guys message me to play, especially when i first arrived I was lucky enough to have x1ks ask me to play with the polish boys, and I had a lot of fun playing with those guys, although it was a bit different to playing here as being from Australia, im used to everyone on quake being able to speak next to perfect English, and not randomly start speaking in any other language I cant understand...

Why do I do this? Because like many of us I played the first Quake and even Duke Nukem)) on lan during my childhood. Time goes by and I’m a grown-up man now with all the obligations that come along with it. When there are no tournaments with prize money the interest of players and fans decreases and that’s what I’m trying to combat. I’m sure I’m not the only one. The community has a lot of adult, successful people, as well as many young people who fell in love with the game.
I want to ask the community to help build on the foundation I and the 125fps team have laid and increase the prizes in the coming leagues. Fundraising is nothing new and is employed to collect funds for all kinds of events. I’m sure that many of you will be happy to chip in a sum that’s admissible for yourselves and even happier to follow the tournament you yourself made a contribution to!
Below are various ways to donate money for prize funds of 125fps.com leagues.
The reputation of the 125fps leagues guarantees for a fair distribution of funds. I myself will continue to contribute about 31500p(~1000$) every month.
I propose the following prize money distribution (31500RUR + donations)

15% of the donations will go towards the organization and coverage of the league, in particular recruitment of streamers.
Additionally I suggest limiting the prize pool of every league by 3500$. If there is more than 2500$ worth of donations the surplus funds get transfered to the next league. The biggest donators will be listed below every leagues prize pool (voluntary).
The fundraising will start with the announcement of the next league."

This is really an attempt to reach out to the gaming community, many who have played any FPS online over the last 15 years will have heard of Unreal Tournament. Of the whole series, the original is still the best, and surprisingly still boasts the most active community. A lot of this goes on in the shadows though. The quality of coverage is next to none, the quality of players by now is of the highest I've seen across most games I've played. PACO and the rest of the GlobalUnreal crew have worked relentlessly to build what is now a stable and active competitive scene. With the game now openly downloadable, and being as close to pickup-and-play as is possible, this game is crying out for more exposure, and as always new players.
