Tired of getting owned by people with a higher Elo then you? Can’t quite get your foot in the door for the big cups? Then this is the cup for you!

There will be a cup each week, so we need a different winner for each! At the end of 4 weeks (Sept. 16th) we will be having a "Step it Up Duel Master Finals" event, where prior first- and second-place winners will be placed in a Bo5 single-elimination bracket!

Eligibility

QLRanks Elo rating under 1500
At least 3 days of play time on your Quake Live account
Not a first- or second-place winner from a prior week

Check-in: 12:30 CDT, 8 September 2012 (check in on IRC!)
Starts: 13:00 CDT, 8 September 2012

Rules

Players: 16 players
Format: Double Elimination. Bo3 until semifinals, then Bo5
Map Selection: toss toss pick pick, then flip for tie breaker

Blood Run, Campgrounds (added for non-premium users), Furious Heights, Aerowalk, Toxicity, Lost World

This event is a 16 player bracket with a wait list. If you're on the wait list, please check in, and you will be placed in the bracket to replace a no show.

A new Quake2 year is finally approaching; the 2012/2013 season! We celebrate this by launching the sign ups phase for the European Duel League #11!

The EDL is a Deathmatch 1on1 competition - the biggest Q2 event left on the planet - open for players from all corners of the world. Non-Europeans normally play their games on home/away servers, i.e. an American may play one map in the US and one in Europe, but despite having to endure a little higher ping once in a while, it works out splendidly!

The league features several divisions, meaning there's a place for players of all skill levels. Even the most sporadic, rusty and unsolemn quakers are guaranteed fun! So no excuse not to join in! Any questions? Don't hesitate to ask! There's always helpful people on IRC!

ClanBase has recently started the sign up for the CTF Fall 2012 Cup. Sign-Ups are open till 16th of September.

In September map rotation on Quake Live we can frag again at best duel map ever made. There plenty more but who cares. Let's get first frag and lusback all the way thru teleport till timelimit is done. glhf

#cpmduel channel is hosting another

challenge promode #cpmduel NEWBIES cup. This cup is intended for people inexperienced with cpm, people who are curious to try it and people who are in cpm for a short period of time. This cup is not intended for Warsow or Quake3/QL/QW veterans who are new to CPM! It's aimed towards european players so matches will be played on euro servers. Registration will be opened 30 minutes in advance of the tournament (11 September, 18:00 CET). If you want to play make sure you're on IRC in #cpmduel channel on QuakeNet.

First month of new map rotation system just passed, some commend it, others aren't too happy about it.
However, it surely shows that the activity has dropped regardless of your opinion about it.

The lack of activity was most prominent on duel servers, where one of the most played maps was removed from public servers and only available to subscribers.
September's rotation again lacks competitive duel maps, which are crucial for the activity of standard servers. Clan Arena players will suffer the most with the removal of Campgrounds. We will be able to see and play some RA3 maps such as Theatre of Pain and Evolution.

21 arenas will be selected and update each first monday in month.
An arena has to be at least 3 months old to be eligible for the standard cycle.

Trance, best known for being the "tech guy" behind The GD Studio, Twitch.TV Europe, and Level Up TV.

Some time ago, I wrote up a recap article about the ASUS ROG Tournament, in which I raved about the production value put together by the GD Studio, James "2GD" Harding's esports independent studio project. I was able to talk with James' right-hand man and production guru, Cristian "Trance" Tamas, and ask him some questions regarding the ASUS tournament, his role in the studio, and some other random things!

Season 4 of HoQ CTF 4v4 is about to start, and this season we're going to do something radical. Something insane. Something Jolt did years ago.

Maps are now going to be fixed for each round, and will be drawn from a wider pool than the usual 5 maps. This allows us to introduce new maps properly, giving them a real chance to get established in the competitive scene, PCWs and pickups included.

ShadyAK! We'd like to invite all interested parties to our new line of tournaments, the CPM FIGHTCLUB series, starting with our duel opener scheduled on the Sunday 9th September 2012. Coverage will be provided by NoProblemTV (basically the rebranded PNS-TV) with exactly the same plan as the last one, with guest appearances by stars of CPM, post-match analysis by the big boys of CPM, and interviews with key players as the tournament progresses!
