The MaverickServers Quake 3 level design competition has finished its 10 week run and the judging has now started.

The final judging mappack can now be downloaded and judging will finish up around August 24th.

The judges are:
SyncError (from id Software)
Anthem (from Q3W and Team Event Horizon)
Andrew "gellehsak" Ryder (Super famous cpm15 player)
Joe "nineX" Szymkowicz (from Ready Up Radio)

World Cyber Games USA has officially launched eight free online qualifying events, open to all U.S. citizens, taking place throughout the months of August and September for qualification directly into the US National Finals. These online tournaments will qualify winning players to the US National Finals event, set to take place later this year. The winners of the US National Finals will go on to represent Team USA at the 2012 WCG Grand Finals, being hosted this year in Kunshan City, China.

Four featured titles will be played online by players across the country. Each game will give players two opportunities to qualify for the US National Finals.

StarCraft 2 (1v1) on PC
World of Tanks (7v7) on PC
FIFA '12 (1v1) on PC
Cross Fire (5v5) on PC

The top finishing players from each of the online tournaments will receive an auto-berth and travel stipend to the US National Finals event. Additionally, the remaining top 4 players from each event will receive an invitation to compete at the US National Finals for a total of 8 US National Finals qualifier spots per game.

Registration for the 2012 qualification events has officially opened, and is completely free for all participants who reside in the United States! During last weeks, rumors were spread regarding the coming of a new series of Quake Live cups. Today, the secret is uncovered. A new esport entity, called FACEIT, just entered the scene.


With a Press Release, FACEIT announces a brand new series of Quake Live Sunday Cups, featuring 125$ per week, starting in September 2012, and hosted on their platform.

A short Quake Live movie from the French Defrag community made by France M1zu.
This is the first movie made by M1zu using WolfcamQL and providing about 5mn of misc. actions and frags from French Defrag players, including M1zu, France Hades, France RatoNn, France z3bra, France MidiMightyMoe and myself.

As announced in the forum earlier today, France Kevin "strenx" Baeza is launching a streaming project over at twitch.tv/strenx that will include Quake Live lessons, show matches and tournaments. For the latter, a donation campaign has started.
