Czech Republic neverGreen from mIRC #cpmduel channel is hosting another cpma challenge promode #cpmduel NEWBIES cup. This cup is intended for people inexperienced with cpm, people who are curious to try it and people who are in cpm for a short period of time. This cup is not intended for Warsow or Quake3/QL/QW veterans who are new to CPM! It's aimed towards european players so matches will be played on euro servers. Map pool consists from another triplet of the most common maps. Registration will be opened 30 minutes in advance of the tournament (27 June, 18:00 CET). If you want to play make sure you're on IRC in #cpmduel channel on QuakeNet.

We'll talk with him about his run through the bracket including Semifinals against United States of America Tim "DaHanG" Fogarty, finals nemesis Belarus Alex "Cypher" Yanushevsky, and the future of Quake as it stands now.

Hosts United States of America Marcus "djWHEAT" Graham and United States of America Scott "SirScoots" Smith have returned from Sweden, and will be joined by United States of America Rod "Slasher" Breslau.

Thanks everyone for one incredible DreamHack Summer 2012! From my point of view this easily is one of the best Quake events at DreamHack yet. Huge thanks to United Kingdom Zoot and Germany Calipt for the coverage on location. Thanks to all the streamers who streamed from home as well! Hopefully we can run Quake again this Winter, but right now it's too early to tell.

We collected the demos and configs from the weekend, and they're now available. Thanks to Belgium Trance for the hosting.

Unfortunately there's some demos and configs missing, but the most of them are there. We've been able to collect all configs from the playoffs, except Weirds config.

Edit: Demos from the Grand Finals are available on youtube: Map 1 (Blood Run), Map 2 (Toxicity), Map 3 (Lost World).

Hi guys, I guess most of you know now that I was at DreamHack this week and that I made some videos and interviews. Finally the last interview I made for this event is now online. I'm talking about an interview with non other than Cypher.

In this interview, the player from Belarus talks about the grand final against Rapha, the problems he had with his setup, missing top players, QL state, Evil's performance, his aim and rockets and Shootmania.

Esportsfrance: Did you train for Shootmania already and do you really like the game as it is or are you just playing it because there are going to be tournaments and money to make ?
Cypher: First of all, I already said it, not first time, I don't understand the people, like people on ESReality that are talking trash about this game. I feel they didn't try it. In general, everybody who tries the game say it's fun. It's really fun. It lacks of modes like Quake has, like OSP but in general it's a really good teamplay game. There is teamplay but at the same time you can win a round on your own with railgun. It's a mix of duel and teamplay. [...]

Third and final day of DreamHack Summer 2012 is tomorrow. There's 4 games left to be played and the first semi final is starting at 05:00 CDT, 18 June 2012. This is of course followed by the second semi final, bronze game and grand final. The games will be played one by one so you guys can follow all of them.

After two days full with Shootmania action, the first open LAN tournament is over and we have a winner.

Saturday started with the 32 teams placed into four groups of eight teams. All favorites such as aL, colwn and Epsilon eSports ended at the top of their groups. Other teams such as ADK, Branque! and Art Gaming were looking strong as well. The top four of each group moved on to a second groupstage, which were four groups of four teams. You can find an overview of the first groupstage here.

The second day of DreamHack Summer 2012 is starting tomorrow, 03:00 CDT, 17 June 2012 with the remaining two groups of the group stage followed by the round of 16 and then the quarter finals. The quarter finals will be played one by one so there won't be any missed action.

Hey guys! The last 4 years I've watched a lot of speedrunning and I think there's a lot of people that doesn't know about this community at all and I think they deserve some attention from you all.

Many of you have probably seen "Super Mario Bros done in under 5 minutes" or "Quake Done Quick" and these are some great speedruns! Below I will provide you with some links for some awesome speedrunning sites and most runners today have streams for you to follow.

The first day of DreamHack Summer 2012 is starting tomorrow, 05:00 CDT, 16 June 2012 with the group stage of the duel tournament.

Unfortunately Sweden pitch and Sweden xeron are unable to make it to DreamHack. They've been replaced by Sweden killerfisk and last winters DreamHack admin Sweden empish who's now going to play instead.

Because of personal issues Germany k1llsen won't be able to make it to DreamHack. He will be replaced by Germany calipt. Poland av3k won't be able to make it, missed his flight because of a traffic accident where he got stuck on the way to the airport. Lithuania guard won't be able to make it either, for unknown reasons. He will be replaced by Denmark cixxar and av3k will be replaced by Russia cooke.

In case you missed it, MaverickServers is hosting a Quake 3 level design competition at mapping.maverickservers.com. There are currently 20+ mappers creating some awesome designs. Alpha versions of maps in progress are already being posted for downloading; any feedback is greatly appreciated. Registration is closing on June 23rd, so if you are interested please sign up soon.

The upcoming competitive first person shooter Shootmania Storm will be playable at DreamHack Summer 2012. Attendees to DreamHack will both receive an alpha key and be able to participate in an Joust tournament with cash prizes.

In addition to this there will be two ambassadors from Nadeo. Meet Thyrus and Lily to ask them questions and play in the Joust tournament. 64 players will together compete for the fame of the very first Shootmania Storm trophy in 1v1 Joust mode.


Nadeo is welcoming both pro-gamers and eSport teams to join in and try the alpha version of Shootmania to get a first glance of the game.

This interview will feature a rather unfamiliar face to many of you, unless you're well aware of all the latest happenings revolving around the Quake scene. Literally a no-one until a few weeks ago, the Irish's name firstly resonated when the qualifiers of the Dreamhack Summer 2012 got revealed. Nobody expected his name to be featured, including the young talent himself. Luke “Lukelawlz” Hanlon will make his first appearance at a major gaming event this weekend being only 16 years old, making the teen one of the first juveniles to ever compete at this stage. Luke was kind enough to catch up with us for a quick interview, right before leaving for Sweden.

It's been a long road, but you're finally living every gamer's dream; you're about to head off to Sweden to compete in one of the world's largest e-sports tournaments. How are you feeling?

I feel excited, to say the least. I've watched many streams of QL tournaments over the years and it always seemed like it would be fun to be playing there. I'm looking forward to travelling there and meeting everybody I've played against over the past few years.
