Community-run Broadcasting Organization Set to Provide Live Tournament Coverage from QuakeCon 2010

Quake Live TV, a community-run broadcasting organization, is set to provide live coverage of the QUAKE LIVE™ tournaments at
QuakeCon® 2010, being held August 12-15, 2010 in Dallas, Texas at the Hilton Anatole.
QuakeCon, which is free to the public, offers an unparalleled opportunity to see the greatest players in the world compete in highly-competitive matches. Participants will be vying for their share of over $50,000 in prize money. Top professionals will compete in the Intel®-sponsored QUAKE LIVE Masters Championship and the QUAKE LIVE Capture the Flag Championship while up-and-coming players will have the opportunity to prove their gaming prowess in the QUAKE LIVE Open Tournament. Quake Live TV will provide complete coverage of the official QUAKE LIVE contests and Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) events.

Free to all and open to the public, QuakeCon 2010 will feature North America’s largest Bring-Your-Own-Computer (BYOC) LAN party for nearly 3,000 people, drawings and contests with big cash prizes, exhibits with the latest games and hardware, and non-stop entertainment, parties and events. First created in 1996 by a group of friends on IRC and now going into its fifteenth year, QuakeCon remains true to its original mission as an event created by gamers, for gamers. Sponsored by id Software and other industry-leading software and hardware manufacturers, QuakeCon continues to be run by a dedicated group of volunteers, including an executive team with more than 75 years of combined experience producing the event. Over 7,000 people attended QuakeCon 2009.
Quake Live TV grew out of a broadcasting company for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars called “Enemy Territory TV.” From there, the core team has been involved with the design, coding, broadcasting, and community features that went into Quake Live TV.
The Quake Live TV team currently features fifteen staff members who volunteer their time and effort. The team remains a grassroots, community-run organization despite their strong work ethic and professional results. Quake Live TV is steadfast on expanding the interest of eSports to a wider audience, and works hard to provide regular, high quality entertainment. Since its inception in 2009, Quake Live TV has streamed over 1,000 Quake Live matches.
