The most recent important hardware releases when we talk about gaming & hardware are the SteelSeries Xai Laser mouse and the arriving of 22" 120 Hz TFT monitors. Every gamer has heard about the two new models, Samsung 2233rz and Viewsonic VX2265wm FuHzion. Acer and Asus will release new monitors as well.

Opinions are going from "my old TFT is okay, but if the technology getting better i will buy one" to "it´s the best TFT i´ve ever had for gaming" or "CRT users grab the new TFT's, you will be happy for the first time". Some of us "hardcore gamers" are still using a CRT for some reasons but my feeling is the CRT crowd will getting weaker since the arriving.

European Championship Finals - Seeds (150 comments)

With the recent ending of the European Championship last Monday, the 16 participants of the Finals are now known. Unfortunately, two players already confirmed that they won't be able to attend the finals.

fooKi and

qrebo will be replaced by the 3rd player of their group:

zsx and

Z4muZ.

Also, the seeding pools are now ready and the groups drawings will be made during the CS and WoW Finals on ESL TV, probably Saturday. Here are the 4 seedings pools to be used for the drawings of the 4 groups of 4 players, as well as the planned schedule of the competition:

Finally, the ESL Staff announced the result of the vote amongst the players about the use of cg_drawItemPickups, which allow to display the timestamps when a player picks up items and weapons. This setting will not be allowed during the finals and should remain to 0.

The official games and tournaments list for Devastation has been announced, and in amongst the 17 different games and 22 different tournaments slated for the 2010 lineup is a Quake Live Duel tournament! For a complete list of games check out the Devastation website.

The event is set for Friday, June the 18th to Sunday June the 20th in Phoenix, Arizona.

Spain who already has a ESL Pro Series (EPS) for Quake Live,

Germany will be the second country to feature a ESL Pro Series, which is the highest national league within the ESL and the direct qualification for the Intel Extreme Masters.

The German ESL Pro Series Season 16 will feature 16 players and a total prize money of 3 200€. There will be four qualification cups and the top four of each cup will qualify for the EPS.

As of January 2010, 4Seasons Gaming, known as the new qlive tournament team down in Australia will be holding Australia's largest multi-skill level 120 player Duel Competition. The competition will consist of two 32 player divisions, one 40 and one 16 man.

From the guys who could represent Australia internationally to the guys who just downloaded the game, we are trying to both promote and develop the Australian Quake community through-out regular Quake Live competition.

As well as running our own E-Match Betting, Writing/Recording Guides and Articles and video cast covering our own matches via Gamestah Television, we are doing the best we can to not only follow in the International footsteps but also keep alive what has always been a fast paced unique first person shooter.

The ZDaemon Duel League is a competitive doom 2 league using the port ZDaemon. After a long fall/winter season, the top division has only one game left, the match between

DevastatioN and

JKist3.

The finals will be the best of 5, consisting of the maps DooM2 Map1, Dwango5 Map1, Judas23, Dwango5 Map7, and King1.

Hatred on Tastyspleen.tv, the show will begin at 13:15 CDT on Saturday January 16th.
Winner will take home $250 US, and the loser will end up in 2nd place for $100 US.

About a month ago id Software released an important update for Quake Live which included changes of the hitboxes and the damage output of the LightningGun.

has spoken with a few top players to catch some opinions about the new patch.

Kévin "strenx" Baeza:

"The hitbox is perfect now and we know who has good aim and who doesn't. I guess it's a very good idea which doesn't disturb my game at all. I love the new shaft and I nearly shaft the same as before, so why shouldn't I be happy?"

Kuh3liga Winter signups open *update* (25 comments)

Kuh3Liga is preparing for the upcoming Quake Live winter season 2010. The signups just started on 9th of january and will be open until the 18th of january. Unlike Clanbase they offer a Clan Arena league so CA players can rocketjump into action! All matches will be played best-of-three.

The sign in phase for the second "Avalon-Clan"-CA-Trophy starts now. After positive feedback of the first Trophy tournament the participent places have advanced, from 12 to now 32 teams. For the available 32 slots were 17 invites spread, the other 15 slots are open now for a free sign up. 4v4 tournaments are divided in 3 divisions.

Mappool is DM6, DM14, DM20, CA1, CA2, CA3, T6, T7.

Tonight at 14:00 CDT the 10th season of the European Quake League will come to it's conclusion. As the Division 1 final between

the Viper Squad and

Slackers will be played.

Both teams are 3 times EQL champions, with tVS winning the previous 2 seasons without loosing a single match.

Slackers last EQL championship was in EQL Season 7, when they were supposed to play vs tVS, but that game resulted in a walkover.

A part from that, the two teams have never met in a major QuakeWorld final before, leaving

Slackers hungry for a victory, as they seek out to break

the Viper Squad's 3 season winning streak.

To help them achieve that goal, they have brought back danish TDM veteran and QuakeWorld legend

David "ParadokS" Larsen. With Paradoks' record of playing in more than 16 major QuakeWorld TDM finals, he will surely bring some much needed stability and experience to the Slackers side, and improve their chances of beating the Finnish powerhouse.
