In late autumn 2008, the Russian Gaming Expo IgoMir was supposed to be the first public showing of a long awaited Q3 movie... but it never happened.

Now, well over a year after it was meant to be released, and 1 trailer later, Czech Republic Lubomir "Silu" Silhan from the well-known group han-sai productions has finished his project. The long awaited Q3 Highlights movie featuring ChinaRussia Fan "RazerJ" Zhibo is called manJu, and shows almost 11 minutes of widescreen frag highlights from Q3 events, all performed by Jibo himself.

Level Up TV is a video streaming service providing live shoutcasted streams of some of the best Quake Live games online (and at LAN) today.

So far Level Up have covered games for most of the major Quake Live competitions as well as Team Fortress 2 and Quake 3 cups.

On the 28th December 2009 a live group draw for the QuakeQuickCup Team Deathmatch NationsCup will be taking place live on stream.

EDIT - It appears lvl^ will not be allowed to cover any of the nations cup matches as planned. Although we obviously want to I was informed by holyshit that they had grabbed "exclusive coverage" rights a month or so before the cups were announced. Apparently us both streaming it would also be unacceptable to hstv so we are left with not being allowed to cover anything from the 3 different nations cups.

Level Up's Video on demand section is growing steadily with some classic matches already available.

However, Level Up are currently limited to 500kps upload by the streaming platform livestream and are currently in a competition to receive the ability to stream in High Definition. If you would like to help Level Up improve their Quake Live coverage you can vote for them over at the livestream website.

The voting closes at 22:30 CST, 28 December 2009 so be quick.

I Had the Rocket Launcher, He Had the Chain Gun by United States of America Evan "Nomadic" Bradshaw, is a well written first person article about the yields of professional FPS gaming that not only have come from the gaming itself but as a result from the path of competitive gaming.

The participants of the Intel Game On national finals are now known! And all the groups should be ready for the first matches. The tournament format will consist of a 4*4 Group stage and 8-slots direct elimination playoffs.

The group stage matches will be played from the 4th to the 14th of January, and the playoff from the 27th January to the 3rd February. Only 1 player per country/region will then be qualified for the international Finals. Below you can have a look at the prizes for each national finals, and a link to their groups.


For now, the winners of the ROCCAT mousepads were still not announced.

Dear ladies and gentlemen, we bring to your attention an epic logo contest for a Russian Quake3 movie “34” (“3ulu4”). The action of the movie revolves around certain 34 (3ulu4), being the main character’s nickname. The genera could be described as a full-length mashinima/frag film with today’s russian pro-quakers for main participants. The project promises to be quite full of content, interesting, pioneering and vivid. Inquietudes are to be mixed with a bad-assed action seasoned with infinite irony.

The logo has to comprise text – 34 (or 3ulu4 (spelled like Zilich)), it’s allowed to use some sign.

3ulu4: “Logo is one of the basic factors in creating a platform from which to depart later on. In order for you to be aware what the ultimate logo should look like and refer to (both emotionally and logically), we provide a few examples. Each symbol is about some unique and at the same time universal idea, hence while realization it’s utterly important to concentrate your attention on “why is it this way?”. It’s obligatory that the conception of works sent is explained in detail. The future logo is to accumulate all above-mentioned facts about the movie and convey the spirit of uncompromising struggle at Quake3 arenas. In other words, having seen it, the audience should find themselves in front of an enormous “rabbit hole” entering which promises an unforgettable journey into a Wonderland”
Morgot: “Do your best to create a unique logo, without attempts to stylize it to something already existing. Mind readability. There is neither style nor color preference. Oh yeah, was very near to forgot about the main thing – there is no spoon either.

Formats:
- contestants send .jpg versions with commentary.
- images may be performed in any style (raster, vector, paints, felttip pens, pencils etc.)
- it’s desirable for the contestant to have vector of his work, but it’s not obligatory.

ClanBase NationsCup season XIII (81 comments)

Yesterday ClanBase just announced their new Nation Cups XIII Season. This 13th season will feature 16 cups over 12 games with 5 cups dedicated to the Unreal Tournament series, and 3 to the Quake series (make it 4 if you consider Urban Terror is part of Quake). You can already apply as captain, the sign-ups will close on Thursday 31st December. The very first matches are expected to be played on Monday 13th January 2010 with the qualifiers.

Note that the ClanBase QL TDM NationsCup will take place as the same time as the QuakeQuickCup QL TDM NationsCup which also starts on January, the 4th to be exact. We're almost back to Christmas four times a year!

The 12th edition of the weekly ZOTAC QL Duel Cup has opened it's signups.

Once again the cup format will consist of SE brackets using bo1 matches until the quarter finals. Then the games will be played as bo3 with the grand final being played bo5. The prize consists of 100€ for the first place as well as AGP ranking points for the top8 players.

This was first meant to be my contribution for the TEK-9 minimovie contest, but I realized that this kind of movie isn't really good material for the competition, so I wrapped it up and published it.

Im instead working on a new minimovie for the contest, which hopefully will be more fun to watch ;)

This Saturday, we are hosting our third Quake Live Duel tournament. Fnatic PLAY QL Duel Xmas Special powered by SteelSeries features great prizes for the top two finishers.

Our great experience with Quake Live cups, the high amount of players and great interest by the community were reasons to host yet another Duel cup for all players from Europe. Hardware prizes have been kindly provided by SteelSeries for the two players who face off in the finals and $100 for the first ranked player could help with Christmas looming.

Level Up TV will be providing coverage of the most interesting games from the last 16 on Saturday for your viewing pleasure. All future Fnatic PLAY Quake Live tournaments will be covered by Level Up TV and more can be expected from this co-operation in the following weeks.
