The European Quake League recently presented their new initiative in the form of EQL: Pro, which is a league that caters towards the top eight 4on4 teams in the QuakeWorld community and features the classic ruleset that consists of DM2, DM3 and E1M2. The main idea behind this league is to ensure high quality QW 4on4 action every Sunday as they have a fixed schedule for playing the games, which makes it possible to provide better coverage for every single game and gives the spectators full awareness of when the games will take place.

The four top teams from the 12th season of the European Quake League are automatically qualified for this new league, which starts in January. The four remaining teams will have to qualify in order to participate and this will take place tomorrow. In fact there are five qualification spots to fight for as the EQL12 champions,

the Viper Squad, unfortunately are unable to take part in EQL: Pro.

The 63rd ZOTAC QL Duel Cup will be played this Sunday. As usual it will consist of SE brackets using the bo1 format until the quarter finals. Then the games will be played as bo3 with the exception of the Final being played as bo5. The prize still is 100€ for 1st place!

Last Sunday was our first qualifier for the

Australian and

New Zealand in which our tuned-in viewers witnessed probably the greatest and most exciting games held within the Australian and New Zealand region since the introduction of Quake Live. Quake 3 Australian national representative

Andrew "python / Chacha" mixed it up with Quake Live Australian national representative

Daniel "dandaking" De Sousa and our usual high-end players

Peter "Ventz" Kidson,

Tim "zlr" Shey and

David "ZenAkU" Addati. The competition was double elimination with the "spoiler brackets" if you can't wait to watch the three hours worth of classy commentated games between these 5 players. Because of the length the VOD's were broken into two parts in-order of the games below. I would also like to take the time to mention that if you do enjoy our coverage we are still raising money to send the winner Germany for those of you with big hearts :)

Update: After only 1 hour of downtime, Quake Live is back! But as Syncerror notes, "servers in United Kingdom, Poland, Argentina, and Korea were unresponsive during our update process and were unable to receive the new update assets. We will bring these servers back online once they have been properly updated".

While Quake Live is updating we already get to see the

Quake Live Premium Pak 5 Changelog.

Included is the brand new TDM/CA/FT Map "Tornado" by swelt, Team Arena Terra CTF classic "Overlord" and "Double Impact" from ShadoW. As part of the Holiday Special you will be able to play as Santa on the "The Edge" remake "Winter's Edge" in FFA/FT aswell as "Silent Night" in CTF.
The long awaited Premium Duel Scoreboard, inspired by Gillz's mockup, is part of the Update. Also the QL Website now include Clan Profiles.
