The 8 players invited to the Quake 3 1v1 EMS4 are now known, as well as the groups and the schedule of the tournament. I would like to thank all of you who joined the qualifier cups and sent us your applications. We sure know there are still some good names on our waiting list in case of early drops!

The tournament will start next week, and all matches will be pre-forced to Sundays at 13:00 CDT. All matches will be played as bo3 using the ESWC style map pick.

Quakeworld "Aerowalkage" Grand Final (39 comments)

The latest in a series of huge 1-map tournaments (all run by ESR's very own !phil), Aerowalkage has reached the final stage. 96 players have been whittled down to 2 in a gruelling double-elimination tournament that has seen many upsets.

Not many were surprised that quakeworld's most successful duellist, Reppie

, ploughed straight through the winner's bracket to reach the grand final.

His opponent in this, Kingpin

, was considered a relative underdog, but has shown he is more than up to the challenge by eliminating Locktar

, Fifi

and Bulat

from the tournament so far.

Event: EPS UK II Q3

The second season of the UK's Premier League of eSports - the ESL Pro Series - hots up with the UK's first ever Intel Friday Night Game! From 13:30 CDT onwards on Thursday* 30th April, a number of the UK's best teams and players will play a match from the ESL Pro Series matches live:

Your hosts for the event will be none other than James "2GD" Harding and Joe Miller. If you can't make it to the event then you can watch it live and free on ESL TV.

Update: Q3 will not be streamed, but GTV will be organised and posted here!

The event will take place at TEN Squared (which has a bar!) in central London. Doors open at 6pm, there is no entry fee and the first 100 visitors get 2 free drinks (yes, real drinks, alcohol!).

Event: DHS'09

As previously posted DreamHack will host 1v1 tournaments in QuakeWorld and Quake 3: CPM. But we also decided to arrange a fun tournament for Quake Live! The tournament will be all BYOC, so you need a computer seat to attend. The prizes include products from the Swedish company Mionix.

The tournament will be arranged by DreamHack and QuakeLive.se so you'll find all the brackets and information at both websites. This will be a great opportunity to meet other QL players as well as to see some great Quake action in all three games.

So, get online and practice until you wear out your mouse, you'll get a new one if you're good enough ;)

Thanks to the hard work of qrealka and everyone involved in developing and testing the lastest version of CPMA is ready for release. This brings significant tweaks for the Challenge Quake gameplay along with some bug fixes and useful features for all players such as SuperHUD for coaches, no beam lightning, the return of the fast rail option for Clan Arena, armour and health voteable up to 400 for Deathmatch Arena and many more changes.

Every week Quake Life releases a few new features in addition to new videos and announcements. This week there are 4. I feel the ESR crowd might enjoy most of these as they are all related to the Quake scene and Quake Live. Below are the links and excepts related:

The last 8 players will be picked on applications and will be announced later. If you want to apply and get one of the 8 invitations, the deadline has just been extended to Thursday 23rd of April at midnight. The number of emails we received until now is tragically low, so don't hesitate!

Over at EUQL, they have release a new interview with

Aaron-Anton “HELL” Jones. In it, he talks of his past in MANY games as well as the end of Quake 4. With future of QuakeLive and the likes/ dislikes of the game q's and a's, this is a good interview with one of UK's famed professional players.

HELL: Over the years I’ve played everything at some point, but the ones (Game Modes) that are more enjoyable than others for the fun factor that I’d like to see introduced would be FreezeTag and CaptureStrike, those I enjoy playing, well I did in Quake3 and I’m sure I would again in QuakeLive.

The last qualifier for the Quake 3 EMS 4 will start tomorrow afternoon at 09:00 CDT and will grant 4 slots to compete in the new EMS season. The sign-ups will be open until 08:30 CDT and then the check-in process will begin. We may try to get a GTV running during the 2nd group stage, join #esl.q3 on IRC for more informations tomorrow.

Stickrunners is up and running! The first games of season 2 will be played on Sunday starting 20.00 CEST and I thought I would give you some info about these games and also give you all the groups and some other stuff. First off, this season will have four divisions instead of three like the last season.
