Finding the best CSGO gambling sites in 2019 is not that easy. CSGO gambling has had a chequered past to say the least, with many sites being shut down and penalised because of illegal activity.

There is clearly a demand among some Counter-Strike lovers to bet on their favourite game but for the sector to be sustainable long-term, CSGO gambling sites must comply with the laws - primarily for the safety and security of esports fans but also for the sake of themselves.
Cpm 2v2 NATIONSCUP Week 1+2! (28 comments)
Posted by blaze @ 10:24 CDT, 10 April 2009 - iMsg
So the first two weeks we'll see a lot of games! Each team will play 3 games during these two weeks. So it's time to start scheduling.
As usual tell me or ethad ASAP when you scheduled the game. It's close to impossible for us to run this event otherwise.

(Since every group has 5 teams one team has to sit out every round. That causes that some teams will just have to play 2 games these weeks)

GAMES HAS TO BE PLAYED BEFORE MONDAY 27/4

Next monday (13/4) the 2v2 version of the Nationscup kicks in with 20 teams fighting for the pride left in CPM.
Since the teams only need 2 players to get a game going we thought we'd speed things up and make you play 3 games per 2 weeks.
First two weeks schedule can be found here!

I'd like to remind every team that to have at least one player in #cpm.nations to make the scheduling smooth. Before we start I'd like to hand out a round of applauses to the refs helping us with the event and the few admining here at ESR.

Stickrunners Season 2 Registration (37 comments)
Posted by Kruzz @ 22:04 CDT, 7 April 2009 - iMsg
The second Stickrunners season is about to take off! The schedule is set to start on Sunday 19 April and finish on Sunday 17 May. It's only five match days because we noticed that it requires a lot of organization to keep things running smoothly. Since the exam period is starting in June, we'd like to finish in time. This means that we will only accept 18 teams in 3 divisions. We will look at the recent activity and time of registration to select the teams. Those who finished the previous season will automatically be accepted for the new one (except one perhaps, if all 19 teams wish to sign up). We are sorry that some will be disappointed, but we simply can't handle more in our free time. Good organization is what made last season so successful, we need to keep it manageable to continue providing a great league.

If you want to participate in this league check our site for more information!

Game: Quake 3 Quake 3 OSP/CTF 5on5
IRC channel: #Stickrunners
Homepage: Stickrunners
Servers: We will be using the same servers like last time, Netherlands XS4ALL.
GTV: Netherlands gtv.stickrunners.com

We at Stickrunners really hope that you'll sign up, frag some dudes/dudettes, cap some flags and just have fun, see you soon!

Nexuiz 2.5 released (173 comments)
Posted by morfar @ 11:40 CDT, 6 April 2009 - iMsg
Last Friday Nexuiz 2.5, an open source FPS, after just short of a year from previous release, finally arrived with a lot of changes and tweaks. Most noticeable changes include new weapon models, maps, sounds and physics tweaks. In total, it contains around 3000 revisions since version 2.4.2.

Nexuiz is based on the Quake 1 engine but uses Quake 3 map format. Its gameplay is inspired by Unreal Tournament, but has a number of gameplay elements not common in other games.
Since Nexuiz 1.0 in 2005 the unusual features have been the central part of the gameplay, for example: Splash damage goes through solid walls; There is no limit for how much health and armor you can carry; Health regeneration and rotting system.

Due to the extent of changes there is NO PATCH available. To make sure nothing breaks, extract Nexuiz 2.5 to it's own folder, do not overwrite earlier versions!

For a more complete list of changes see the Sourceforge homepage. If you have any comments, suggestions or questions, check the Nexuiz forum or the FAQ.

ESWC Bankrupt? (210 comments)
Posted by oneroomdisco @ 13:15 CDT, 5 April 2009 - iMsg
As just reported on Team-aAa.com (french), it appears that Game-Services, the company that owns ESWC, is undergoing judicial liquidation (bankruptcy).

Complexity had contacted Game-Services about this issue, and received this response:
Games-Services SA ceases all activities. Its liquidation has been pronounced by the Commercial Court of Paris March 30, 2009. In consequence, all the employees and managers have been relieved from their duties and laid off April 2nd, by the adjudication. The process of liquidation, which is starting this week, will notably organize the potential trade-in or resale of the company’s assets including the Electronic Sports World Cup and Overgame.
So although ESWC can be bought by another company, it appears that as of now, there will be no future ESWC Qualifiers or Final Events.

Also reported by Complexity here.

Posted by Kruzz @ 11:10 CDT, 4 April 2009 - iMsg
The first season of the new league Stickrunners is now over and we really enjoyed this and we hope to be back really soon with a new season of pure action. We would like to thank all the participating teams, Netherlands XS4ALL for helping us out with servers and gtv, all the admins and also Belgium chatfragger and Sweden DeViL who started this whole project. If you look down you can see some info about this season, all the review and also all the movies that we made, we made some "movie reviews" each week, we took the best caps and frags and put them in to a movie for about ~5min, added some music, nothing pro about them, simple movies with awesome intros!

Once again I'd like to thank all the people who made this happen and I really hope that you will be back for our next season (date not set yet!) and I hope you all have a nice summer and keep on fragging! GG WP all!

New study: FPS games improve Eyesight (73 comments)
Posted by Demiurge @ 18:14 CDT, 3 April 2009 - iMsg
A new study from the Center for Visual Studies at the University of Rochester in New York, indicates that playing action first person shooters like Unreal Tournament and even Call of Duty 2 improves visual perception. Non-fps games however yielded little effect in the experiment.
In 2002, Daphne Bavelier, a cognitive neuroscientist at the University of Rochester in New York state, found that playing action video games improved visual attention skills (ScienceNOW, 18 April 2002). This time she compared avid gamers with nongamers on a type of visual perception called contrast sensitivity. It allows people to make out objects in dim lighting and to distinguish objects from a busy background.
The article also implies that the research will continue further on the specifics and differences of the effects of playing various types of first person shooters.
