UGAME.net a social network for gamers has just opened its doors! It is a community site for gamers, where you can show off your social skills, share your photos and tag other gamers, create random groups around gaming (PLAY MORE PROMODE?), set up your team, troll on blogs, or simply stalk your favourite gamer (girl?), it’s excellent for event reunions and galleries (such as the ETAP HOTEL brigade from ESWC 08!).

The site, which was designed with the help of the Fnatic team, and some randoms has just opened its doors to the world after a 5 month closed beta. Thousands of gamers have signed up and so far the community seems to like what’s on offer.. There are profiles, teams, guilds, galleries and blogs popping up all over the site, which are linked in to the individual user. The games system is also pretty sophisticated with over 1000 titles (more in the pipeline), with the ultimate goal to become the equivalent of IMDB for the gaming world. Have a look at the World of Warcraft (http://ugame.net/games/worldofwarcraft/) page for an idea of where its heading. Also if you wanted to find some other gamers who play QUAKE 3 on the site, that's easy to do. In the future there are plans to incorporate videos, files, galleries and countless other features to this system as well.

Noobs Anonymous will organize another Challenge Promode duel cup for beginning players.

This edition is intended for people inexperienced with CPM and also for people who are curious to try it.
This cup is not intended for Warsow or Quake veterans who are new to CPM!
It's aimed towards european players so matches will be played on euro servers.

Registration will open 45 minutes in advance of the tournament. (11:15 CDT). If you want to play make sure you're on IRC in #cpma.na on QuakeNet.

Since we are still waiting for the new Rocket Arena 3 version ( 1.8 ) and the official developer site tells us for months: "We are progressing. Assets are being made, coffee is being consumed. Expect teasers soon(tm)", we had the idea to benefit at least from the new improved and bugfixed maps. So we used the ra81.8beta2 maps and created a litte ra318beta2-mappack which contains only the new maps.

There's no need to make backups of your files, we've provided .bat and .sh files for switching between 1.76 and 1.8 beta2 maps. Rocket Arena 1.76 must be installed/


In order to make this work we all have to switch to the new mappack, although the switching between the versions is very easy, its still annoying. In order to accomplish this, we already talked to most server and leagues admins, as well as the most famous pickup channels: #ra3pickup.de, #ra3pickup.se and #ra3pickup.fr. All we spoke to are fine with the idea.

Last weekend we saw some great action in the DeathMatch Radio cpm cups. On Saturday, walter won versus lsv taking the first two maps in the North American DmR finals. In the European cup taking place on Sunday, Hal9000 came in first, Lugia coming behind as a close second losing to Hal9000 on the tiebreaker map. The brackets for the NA cup can be found here; the Euro cup here. (Make sure you're viewing season 1 before you click the brackets tab)

I'd like to thank everybody who participated and made these cups possible. During the European cup on Sunday we reached 144 idlers in #DmRadio, and had over 100 Viewers watching the stream! These are fantastic figures to see from our first cpm cups; we definitely did not expect such a reception.
If you missed the cup, we have all our shoutcasts up on VODs on our Ustream site . This is only a temporary site that we're using until our actual website is fully up. Quality will be better once the DmR site is up. Also, demos from the finals have been uploaded (see at bottom of post), but aren't MVD's. We'll try to get MVD's from now on.

Here is the new Rage trailer that id Software showed off during EA's E3 2008 press conference. EA Partners will publish the game, in development for PC, PS3 and X360. Its been the second trailer from RAGE since 2007 (all Rage footage).

In an E3 Video Q&A with id Software it is said that EA Partners will only distribute the new ip / brand RAGE. At the moment it is a one game deal.

Event: ESWC'08
The german esport site Germany Fragster made an interesting interview with the CEO of the ESWC, France Matthieu Dallon. Among other things, he talks about the reasons why there has only been one Masters event so far and why the choice of games doesn't concern their sponsors.

They are a lot of changes in the eSports market. For example World of Warcraft is pushing into the scene while Warcraft 3 is heading more and more towards the Chinese market. How do you react on those developments?

Dallon: We are very happy that big studios like Blizzard define their strategy over eSports – that's a good step. We expect a lot of Starcraft 2, more than from World of Warcraft but that's our personal opinion. Nevertheless we often follow this opinion since we are independent and a company of gamers. We do what we like that's why we do Quake 3 and keep Counter-Strike 1.6.

Game-Violations and ClanBase ClanBase has joined forces into a massive anti-cheat campaign in nine different games which has PunkBuster support. ClanBase states that they have expanded their relationship with Game Violations; so they can work closer together. Also a third party will join their war against the cheaters, namely ESports-EU. They will provide Game-Violations and ClanBase with a hefty server to hold all data and streams.
