I beat doom2 on ultra violent, Duke Nukem and Quake1.
Never really played Quake2.
Wasn't until Quake3 that I switched to playing with mouse.

What can I say, we were young and stupid :D

Actually I just remebered a friend of mine used PGUP and PGDOWN to adjust his aim when we played Q1 on lan :P

lol I don't even wanna imagine what that would look like compared to today's control in Q3 with awesome mouses etc :D must look completely retarded

back in the day? nigga I played doom1 since it was released don't tell me about back in the day :) also I know for a fact that germans used mouse for doom2. unless they didn't have a modem.

I didn't have a modem until `95 and I didn't play online until around 2001.
So I only played multiplayer on Lan and noone used mouse until later.

come to think of it, we did also play descent multiplayer with mouse and then switched back to keyboard :P

i don't think i ever got through any fps on any difficulty before goldeneye on N64, so it's not like you need to feel embarassed or something. :)

I don't really feel embarassed. I mean it is a map where all monsters have to be dead while nightmare mode means that the monsters respawn after some time.
And back then playing with keyboard only was the norm.

wow, sounds pretty sick. beating q3 or goldeneye on the hardest difficulties would probably not even be challenging in comparison, especially without +mlook (as i think doom2 still was?) o_O

personally I think Q3 on nightmare is harder than doom2 on ultra violence with keyboard. cause FU Xaero.

In doom2 the vertical aiming was done automatically so you just had to do the horizontal stuff. And the AI was understandably fucking stupid so you could lure it some place.
But you needed good ammo management, I know first time around I used idkfa at the beginning of each of the maps.
map30 and hitting that little hole while riding th elevator was a pain in the ass tho. :(
I actually used god mode to train it :P

i remember way back on shod when fatality had a demo of him beating xaero on nightmare posted, and people where like "omg he's zooming, what a cheater!"

i also remember the first time i beat xaero on nightmare, felt invincible, went out to play on the net, lost 39:1 to prozac on old t4.

the trick to beat xaero is to let him get rl, seriously, hide and let him take it. if he spawns near rail you really need to kill him fast though.

never made it far in any doom game, so i'll just be impressed by your geekiness. :)

no not really its only the rent for the field and feed and occasionally getting their feet done/vets fees
